The Faculty of Dentistry, University of Khartoum (UKFD) was established in 1971 as the first dental school in Sudan. It continued as part of the faculty of medicine until year 1990 when it was promoted to a faculty.

The UKFD offers a bachelor degree in dental surgery. The faculty also offers clinical Master of Dental Sciences and PhD in Dental Sciences in: Oral Surgery. Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Dental Public Health, Conservative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry.   The UKFD also prepares candidates for the Membership and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and has Khartoum MFD& FFD RCSI examination center.
