Student Support

When we accept a student into the dental school, it is with the intention that the student will graduate, there for we offer a variety of support services for students. We believe that the motivation to provide quality care comes from within the student; we expect our students to be committed, and we are committed to them.

At UKFD students pursue a rigorous, challenging dental program in an environment that fosters collaboration, prizes professional and personal ethics, and supports academic and professional excellence. We support our students by many ways through many bodies, including:

  • Student deanship

  Dean of students plans and directs university activities related to student services and campus life. Coordinate admissions, health services, financial aid, housing and social programs for students. The office of a dean of students is generally responsible for serving as a point of information for students and responding to students' needs. For easy accessibility the deanship has dean assistant in each campus of the university for specialized tasks and an area of focus, includes supervising various campus programs and serving as a liaison between college administrators and student organizations.

  • Student Union

Students union runs by students, to represent students within the institution, including on local and national issues. Responsible for providing a variety of services to students  and often serve as a training ground for aspiring politicians. Students can get involved in the union by becoming active in a committee, by attending councils and general meetings, or by becoming an elected officer.

  • Student Association

It is student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of dental students. Provides services, information, education, representation, social, financial and advocacy.

It is selected by transparent election through all of the registered student at all levels

It consists of specialized offices to take care of the student activities and give different services to the members.

This association is an active member and founder of the national and international student association.

  • Students Societies

            These are small group gathering affiliated to the student association to fill the gap in the students, community and professional services and to take care of the special student talents, interests and hobbies 

  • Academic Support

There are no posted office hours because we believe that students should get help when they need it. All dental students have access to:

-Academic advisement

-Tutoring services

-Personal counseling

Workshops on study skills, time management and stress management

In addition, students experiencing academic difficulty receive assistance through retention programs at the department level.

  • Financial Support

The financial support committee in the registrar office in collaboration with student association social office   maintains a current file of financial aid information and forms for dental students and helps.

In addition to financial support services, the school offers performance-based prizes to the outstanding student at the class level and subjects level.

  • Psychological Support Office

A well-established office in the medical campus covered by experienced psychologist, gives its support at the personal contact and counseling level.

  • Health Support

The university provide comprehensive physical and mental health care to all of student in the university hospital and the medical school teaching hospitals, this beside daily care clinics at each campus, as well the dental clinics in the faculty provide free dental service to the students. Also, there is health insurance coverage for the students.

  • Disability Support

The university is dedicated to providing students with appropriate support and services to ensure an accessible and welcoming learning environment.
The Office of Disability Services  of the university works with students, faculty, staff and administrators to provide the assistive technology, classroom accommodations, housing accommodations, food allergies/Dietary restrictions, general campus and programmatic accessibility, consultation and referrals to receive disability evaluation and support services
The office of disability Services can provide guidance and assistance to students in the program that suite their situation.
The faculty with the office of disability provide the student who encounter disability during his learning period with the help full devices and machines and can give the advices that can secure his career.   

  • Counseling Service

 

Few of students in our public school are able to cope successfully with the demands of Dental School, but the majority of students find themselves in an overwhelming situation they cannot manage on their own. Although faculty provide the student with their need for the clinical requirement, but still our student counselor acts as a facilitator to help students cope with the other demands of dental education.
